Marina on the Super Slide

Bread!! (And other Fair activities)

Megan and I on the Merry-Go-Round.
Aunt Jess took Marina on the Super Slide...despite the horrified look on her face, she LOVED it, and kept begging to go back. Of course Aunt Jess was unable to resist the cuteness, and took her a couple more times.

Third place French Bread!
First Place Brown Sugar Oatmeal Bread!

Why, Marina, Why....

Ninja Master of Destruction, Marina Rogers, struck again tonight. Here is a brief transcript of my evening (I would like to note that Dn. John was at softball, so I was on my own for this).

Megan: Mom, Marina is all shiny.
Me: ??????????

I then got distracted by something on Facebook, and forgot to immediately investigate. (BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG MISTAKE). Marina came walking upstairs about five minutes later, and sure enough, was all shiny. Head to toe shiny. And slippery. As in, can't pick her up slippery. What the heck? Well, after thinking for a minute, the only conclusion that I could draw was that she had gotten into the pan in which I baked pork chops this evening (and forgot to clear off the table), and smeared pork grease all over herself. I rolled my eyes, wiped her off with a dirty shirt lying nearby (FYI, I am an AWESOME housekeeper....).

I later went downstairs. Said pork chop pan was undisturbed. What was NOT undisturbed was the half a stick of butter that had also been left on the table. The butter that was not smeared all over Marina's extremely greasy body was liberally finger-painted across the kitchen table. I stared at it for a moment in dumbfounded disbelief, then went to collect both children for a much needed bath.

Enter the bathroom.

We have a large mirror in our bathroom. It's on a closet door, and is about six feet tall, and three feet wide (give or take). In any case, right at Marina height, was another lovely finger-painted mosaic of butter. It was everywhere.

After calling my husband to inform him of the insanity of his child (he got a good laugh), I chucked both kids in the bath, and proceeded to wonder how in the HECK I was going to get butter off the mirror. God bless Windex with Vinegar. Cut through it like a....well....a hot knife through butter, as painful as that analogy is.

Oh, I would also like to note that while waiting for the bathtub to fill, Marina peed all over the floor. "Mommy!" she shrieked. "I spilled!"

Megan's First Day of PreSchool

Does it get any cuter than this??? She had a blast...told me at first that all pre-school activities were a "secret" and I couldn't know about them. She opened up as the day went on, and now I know they painted, played outside, played Hop Frogs Hop in the church basement, had snack, and she made new friends, even though she doesn't know what their names are. :) Ah, to be three again...

The land of the living

I feel like I'm slooooooooowly rejoining civilization. I haven't been sick in a few days now, and my exhaustion level has dipped to a five, instead of being a 315. I have to relearn how to not be lazy though...I feel better, but I'm so used to doing nothing that motivation is hard to come by. So, today's projects involve cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, and....oh yeah. More cleaning. My house is a sty, and I am tired of it! I figure I'll just do what I can, then take a break when I get tired. It helps that we're going to friends' house for dinner, so I don't have to worry about cooking.

I had super grand plans to start potty training Marina today, but then I realized that since there is junk all over the floor, she'd probably pee on everything. I figure it makes more sense to clean and THEN potty train, so books and other various possessions aren't ruined. So we'll cross that bridge tomorrow. (In theory).

In other news, my first born begins preschool the day after tomorrow!! She is so excited, and I am excited for her...and having a little bit of an internal meltdown. Surely she is not old enough for this!! It will be strange, just having Marina and I in the house a couple days a week...that is, until March when we will be joined by our new little one.

Marina-ism

So, I was attempting to use the bathroom today, and getting really p.o.-ed at Megan, because she was knocking--without ceasing--on the bathroom door the entire time. When I told her to stop, she moved over one foot and started knocking on the sheet-rock instead. I said her name very loudly and angrily, and Marina (who had weaseled her way into the bathroom with me) decided to finish it. Apparently I've been using Meg's full name in irritation a lot lately, because Marina knew it. The best part was how she pronounced it:

"Meggie Brabra Wogers!"

It was hilarious. :)

Jess is Married!

Well, my sister got married yesterday. It was a nice wedding, the sun shone, and the girls were beautiful sweet little flower girls.

It was a little chaotic leading up to the ceremony...the power went out at the house where we were all getting ready, the photographer was an hour and a half late, and one of the groomsmen cut his hand on his "ceremonial" sword that he was given. Jess put me in charge of the logistics, day of, so I was busy running from one end of the world to the other. I got to boss around a bunch of people too, and that's always fun for me. :)

We unfortunately forgot our camera, so I'll have to wait until I'm able to get pictures from Jess to post. There's a great one of Marina in her flower girl dress and storm trooper helmet...
