Overheard this morning: (imagine the singsongy voice to get the true picture)
"Mary had a little lamb, his fleece was white as snow, and I will praise your name forever and ever, Amen."
Uhhh....is she telling God about the little lamb, or is she praising the little lamb? I'm not sure. Her Godparents better get back here quick and straighten out her theology.

Puppy love at the Labrecques
Videos of Marina making her lemon face and babbling, and of Megan holding one of our friend Kari's puppies. Apparently, these puppies are the only dogs in the world that don't terrify Megan. She loves them.

The curse of the Unibrow
Megan's eyebrow (yes, it's singular) is getting thicker and darker. It's also seriously growing in over her nose. It didn't use to be this noticeable, but you can definitely tell there is only one now.
We'll probably make her wait until she's older to pierce her ears, and for sure to date, but if she comes home from school in second grade and tells me she wants that thing gone, I'm gonna let her wax it off.
On a secondary note, I just sent her to pick out a story to read before taking a nap. She brought me the Bible. That kid is too smart for our own good.

Migraines are the DEVIL
So I've been sick for two days now. I'm actually about 1000 times better today then I was yesterday, even though I'm still not feeling 100%. I have some kind of gnarly bug that's going around--my cousin has it too--and it starts with a migraine on one day (I laid in my bed, moving as little as possible with the curtains pulled all day yesterday), and then evolves into some kind of flu with body aches and stomach cramps the second day. I really hope it's done as of tonight! It's been gorgeous outside, and I haven't left the house in two days.
On a more fun note (Matthew, feel free to edit that grammar), Marina has been farting a lot today. She gets this super concentrated look on her face, lets one rip, then laughs. It's hysterical. I also think she is teething (finally), which is a little bit less fun. But she's getting pretty old, as far as teething is concerned, so it's about time. It also means that I am ready to be done nursing. Marina is not so impressed with that fact. However, after about five hours of trying off and on (no joke) she finally took a bottle today. So maybe I can wean her and she won't starve. Yippee!
Dn. John's Husband/Father of the Year points keep mounting. After my super-fun Mother's Day, he came home early yesterday because I was so sick I couldn't function (a giant shout out to my sister Kali and to Jane Lamb for also helping me!). Right now, he is at the store buying me dinner. He also took Megan, so I have twenty minutes free of screaming (she's been pitching a LOT of fits today). I am taking this opportunity to BRUSH MY HAIR (hasn't been done in about 48 hours), get online, and laugh at my gassy baby. She reeks, by the way.

Mothers' Day
So, for Mother's Day, my husband--God bless him--made me lunch, did the dishes, took me to a movie, and then made me dinner.
He rocks.
He rocks.

Ah, naptime
And so begins the oh so sweet part of my afternoon...both my daughters quietly slumbering. They should be good for about two hours. Ahhh..... *big sigh of relief* It has been a rough morning.
Basically, about eight things happened that--had they happened one at a time--would have been fine (sort-of). But, they all happened at once. A few of those gems were Megan having a gigantic fit, Marina choking on a goldfish cracker, and my vacuum cleaner breaking and spewing smoke in the middle of the living room. I don't remember what else happened, really. But there were a few other things, and they all added up to me having a hair of a breakdown today. If you don't believe me, you can ask my friend Kari--she was here and witnessed the whole glorious spectacle.
Thank God for my Godmother. I called her to borrow her vacuum (since 1: mine was broken, and 2: I HAD to vacuum, since Marina kept eating goldfish crackers that had been lovingly strewn across the floor, and then broken into small pieces by little feet). She let me vent for a second, then lent me her vacuum, and told me to go to McDonalds for a cheeseburger. What good advice. I vacuumed, then packed the girls up and went to McDonalds. On a side note, I was amused to find that a health food store has opened right across the street from McD's. Coincidence?
In any case, the vacuum has been added to Dn. John's honey-do list, I am no longer hungry, the kids are sleeping, and peace has been restored to my somewhat addlepaited brain.

Nothing much
I realize that I haven't posted in a few days...and since I know I have dedicated followers out there, I figured I should write something.
So....
We've been busy as usual lately. Dn. John is coaching Little League again this year, so he's off doing that a couple evenings a week. The girls and I hang out while he's gone. On Monday, we went across the street to my friend Mary's because I was lonely, and then ten minutes after I got home, Helen called because she was lonely too (her husband is my husband's assistant coach). So she came over and we chatted and snacked together while Megan ran around like a loony.
I have been trying to catch up on all the little projects that aren't so little. Today, I made meals for Fr. John. It was lots of fun to try out new recipes. I made a killer meatball and sausage soup. I will definitely be making that again! Basically, I cooked for about five and a half hours straight. It was way more fun than it sounds. I had a good time, although I was a little fried (haha) at the end. Just wish I had a bigger kitchen. And an employee to do the dishes. Hmm... I also--finally--posted new pictures on the church bulletin board, which is one of my pet projects. The last pictures I put up while I was pregnant with Marina. So it's been awhile. Fr. Marc has been (ever so kindly, I might add) getting on my case since January to redo it. What's five months overdue?
Marina is mobile now! She doesn't crawl, really. She rolls and rolls and rolls all over the place, and when she can't get somewhere by rolling, she does this funky little gyration with her legs to push herself forward. Or, she'll just haul her bulk around using her arms. She can get her legs up under herself and rock back and forth; she just hasn't figured out the exact crawling mechanisms yet. Frankly, I think watching her roll around is hysterical, and am in no huge hurry for her to be getting around faster. She's growing up quite fast enough, thank you very much.
I am subbing for Kindergarten at our school tomorrow afternoon. It's been over two years since I've taught, so this should be interesting. Come to think about it, I'm not even sure what time I'm supposed to show up. Perhaps a phone call is in order...
