I was talking to my sister-in-law today, and was telling her about stuff that happened this last week, and realized I seriously need to update the blog!
First and foremost, for the first time in our marriage, the Geo is no longer a part of our life. (Insert Taps here). Dn. John finally bit the bullet, and had it towed on Saturday. The company who towed it? Alaska Car Crushing. I suppose that gives you a bit of an idea of the destiny of his poor car. So, this is my toast to the Geo. It got my husband up to Alaska safely, was a great car for us, and did not break down until we were able to afford a new car payment. For these three things, I am grateful. (Of course, I am also grateful that it is no longer sitting dead in our driveway, but we digress.) Our driveway looks a little empty and sad now. It was actually kind of funny how the tow truck came, because the guy never knocked on the door or anything. I had talked to him that morning, so I knew he was on his way, but later in the day, I walked out of the bathroom, and the Geo was just gone. As in *POOF*. Very funny.
I also learned this week that the muscles used to shovel dirt and torte cakes are the same. Weird, huh? Andrea, Kali, and I tackled that huge overrun flower bed in my driveway on Monday, and just kicked it's tail. It is now weeded, and has irises, wild geraniums, and bluebells re-planted in an aesthetic manner. I plan on getting a lilac bush for it also. We also got most of the border lined with rocks (I have about a third left to do). The next day, I went to the bakery to work on cakes. Every time I had to slice into one of them, my upper arms started aching.
Last but not least, as it is Memorial Day weekend, Dn. John is off on the canoe trip. He'll leave for work Friday morning, and won't be home until Monday night. I've had lots of offers from lots of people to go do things; so many, in fact, that I'm really not sure what the girls and I will be doing this weekend. One serious consideration is going to Seward with a bunch of friends and camping. I know, I know: CAMPING? ME??? ALONE??? WITH TWO KIDS???? Yes, I understand that this is complete lunacy. But I am still considering it. It would be highly amusing that the girls' first camping trip would be without their Dad. But also, we would only be "camping." I have the use of a truck and a camper. I would just have to drive it. Plus, we'd be camping (sorry--"camping") with about seven other families. Other options? Three different barbeques, helping my sister paint her house, getting in some extra hours at the bakery, or just bumming around at home (read: harass Breandan and Helen, since they're the only friends I have who will still be around). Like I said, we are undecided. Either way, it will be a fun weekend, albeit long with my husband gone. But he needs the break, and the outdoorsy time with his friends. He'll also miss the kids, so perhaps he'll appreciate them more when they scream during the night. HA.

You camping with two children is reasonably laughable... Go for it.
Well, it was laughable for you to live in a piece of **** cabin, so you really won't surprise me when you take the girls camping. Good luck.
Boy, thanks for the votes of confidence guys. I feel fantastic.
Camping, I wish I could go on the canoe trip with Dn. John! Perhaps next year. Then you would have Kathryn to go "camping" with as well. I also remember when the Geo entered Dn. John's life. What a great deal from Fox Motors North Augusta, SC!
