Monday, Monday

I basically spent the entire weekend in a fit of laziness, so my house is an utter and complete disaster. Well, it was. I woke up this morning and cleaned two rooms (my bedroom and the office) before breakfast. Yes, I am THAT awesome. After plugging my kids into a movie (thank you Elmo), it was off to clean the girls' room, vacuum the whole upstairs, and haul all the junk that had accumulated upstairs that belonged elsewhere, downstairs. By then, Elmo had ended, and my saving grace--our 13 year old nephew, Nick--showed up at my door. He has taken Megan to the playground so I can clean in relative peace. Of course, that is discounting the hurricane that is Marina. I'm pretty sure her favorite thing in the world--besides eating--is to crawl along after me and undo all the cleaning I have done. Case in point, upset toy boxes, cheerios mashed into the carpet after I vacuumed....*sigh.* All part of having kids, I suppose.

Speaking of Marina, she slept through the night for the first time in almost three weeks last night. I'm sure that is 80% of the reason that I have the energy to clean as much as I am. Of course, Megan was up at 4 am, wanting to snuggle. She does this from time to time--wake up in the middle of the night, and just want to be close. She's usually pretty chipper when we go into her room, but it occurred to me this morning that she might be having nightmares or something. Since I am often plagued by bad dreams (and really bizarre ones, too), I realized that I need to be much more patient with her when she needs some Mommy time, despite it being the middle of the night.

I laid Marina down for a nap before I started this post, but I made the mistake of not pulling the shade. She is standing up in her crib, bouncing to the nth degree, and hollering out the window at passers-by. It's actually pretty funny, except for the fact that I know at some point in time she is just going to lose it because she really needs a nap. (Amusingly enough, as soon as I started typing that sentence, she began to fuss). I figured I would sit at the computer and type until she fell asleep, then sneak past (her crib is in an alcove at the top of the stairs). But, it doesn't sound like sleep will be coming quickly, so she'll probably just have to have her little heart broken when I walk by her and don't pick her up. Poor girl--it's hard being a baby!

Well, the dishes are calling. Hasta.
