Yes, you read that right. We used to buy Charmin until it killed the septic system at the Temple's, when we lived in their apartment. Today, the Charmin Curse hit the Macalino household. I will not go into the gory details, because they are revolting. Suffice to say, Kali had to buy a rain-suit and rubber gloves to clean up after the plumber (who charged $600) left. Let your imagination run wild....or not, because, like I said, it's revolting. In any case, the plumber said Charmin is terrible toilet paper to use if you are not on a city sewer system. I feel suddenly vindicated for buying the cheap Fred Meyer brand.
Now, on to more fun and less smelly topics.
Dn. John left today on the canoe trip. He was pretty stoked to go, and I'm glad he has this chance to get out and commune with nature, and all that nonsense. The only real bummer for me is that he is incommunicado until Monday evening. It's much easier for me when he's gone if we get to talk once or twice a day. Oh well. In an effort to stay busy, I ended up going with my sister and her kids to go see my nephew's soccer game in Anchorage today. What a blow out--6-2, West over Chugiak. It was pretty dismal.
Tomorrow, I am headed with my girls out to the bakery. I want to buy a wagon for them, so I figure I had better earn the money to purchase it. The Truelson's loaned me one today, and I am in love with it. I get to keep it until Matthew and Anastasia get here and need to use it. I wish I had had my camera, actually. I plunked the girls in it, and Marina cozied up to Megan, who had her arms around her baby sister keeping her safe, and dozed off in her lap. When I looked back, Marina was peacefully sleeping in her sisters' arms, and Megan gave her a little kiss on the head. HOW INCREDIBLY SWEET IS THAT????? *sigh* I will have to flag this blog post and read it again in ten years when my kids are screaming at each other.
Anyway, it's off to the bakery tomorrow to make jam. Mom is watching the kids, so I'll get to chill with my Dad for most of the day. That's always good for a few laughs, since my Dad is a little nuts. (Now you know where I get it). Then on Sunday, Helen and I are taking our girls down to Seward. I decided against camping, because--let's be honest--the idea was complete lunacy. But we are going to drive down and go to the Sea Life Center (www.alaskasealife.com) for the day with some friends who are camping. I've never been, and quite frankly, it looks awesome. I'm sure Megan will love it. Then we'll chill for awhile in Seward before driving back that evening. I know it's a lot of driving, but I'd rather drive then camp, and I really want to go. Also, since I have never been to Seward (I know--how ridiculous is that??), this will be a first for me, and I am pretty excited. Then on Monday, if the weather cooperates, I plan to do some planting--flowers in pots, and a small vegetable garden--before hitting a BBQ at my neighbors' house. And then Dn. John will be home! He is also taking Tuesday off, which happens to be my 27th birthday. We'll do lots of yard work, and fun things like that together (I'm pretty sure I spent my 26th birthday doing yard work too....hmmm....).
In any case, it is shaping up to be a fun weekend, husband or no husband. And now, since my girls are peacefully snoozing, I am going to go clean out my car realy quick--remnants of the soccer game trip-- and hit the hay.

Ah yes,we were blessed with the lovely stench wafting up the hill from the Mac's today. All I have to say is: Scott 1 ply. Never do you wrong.
Although I have to say the mention of a rain suit to clean up...NASTY!
I believe Michael Jackson sang a song called "Jam." Just a thought before you start working.
I love my Charmin... But I'm on a city sewer system, so woohoo to me.
I definitely have to recommend Harbor Street Ice Cream in Seward if you get a chance... Their Pineapple Coconut is to die for.
OH MY GOSH...You've never been to Seward!?!?!?!? I practically lived in Seward during the summer growing up, fishing and camping and what-not. I will definitely be going this summer so you will have to go again with me. I LOVE Seward, It's AWESOME!!!
