Seward

Marina and I at the Sea Life Center
Checking out the Puffins (and the Camera!)
I know, I know. How did she get to be so cute??
Left to right: Megan, Ksenia Phelps, Marina, Franny Phelps, Anders Johnson, Lucas Johnson, Emma Phelps, Amarra Finkler, Rosie Finkler, Macrina Dunaway, Joachim Labrecque, Max Phelps, Joey Finkler. Yes, half of St. Johns (and St. Herman's as well!) was in Seward today. There are a bunch of families camping, and Helen and I drove down for the day to meet them. It was fun--we took over the Sea Life Center!
The girls and I, with Resurrection Bay in the background. Gorgeous!
Megan, up close and personal with a Sea Lion. Those are BIG suckers!

So....Seward was lots of fun. We met a bunch of people (I want to say 20 or so!) at the Sea Life Center, and the kids ran around and had a blast. Seward is a pretty little town. No stop lights, and a ridiculously low speed limit. After the Sea Life Center, the girls and I walked around in the shops for awhile. Megan had fun looking at the ocean, and also trying to break many expensive things in the stores. The kids were pretty great in the car, both ways, but if I have to listen to Megan's "Six Little Ducks" CD one more time, my head might explode.

I had a serious "Office" moment today. The episode where Michael and Dwight are driving down the street, and Michael's computer tells him to turn right, so he does, and drives right into a lake. Yep. Google Map's directions tried to make me turn into the side of a building. Thankfully, I am smarter than the computer, and drove around town until I spotted some unsuspecting woman walking her dog. "How do I get to the Sea Life Center?" I asked, like a complete moron. "Drive to the ocean," was her reply. And voila! There it was, at the end of the street, right next to the ocean. Go figure. Also, Google said it would take 3 and a half hours to get from Eagle River to Seward. Sure, if you drive like thirty miles an hour the whole way! Stupid Google.

Anyway, it was a fun day. I posted about 80 pictures--from the whole month, not just today--on Facebook, so check those out. (Fr. Gregory, this is your excuse to sign up!!)

Tomorrow, we're planting stuff! Yay! And then a BBQ, and Dn. John will be home! Double Yay!

They did...and by the way, the pineapple coconut ice cream at Harbor St. Creamery was AWESOME. Good call.
