Ah, summer. It's about 72 degrees today, which, in Alaska, is about as good as it gets. Gorgeous day. **What the heck? Marina just pulled a heater vent out of the wall. How on earth did that happen?** Anyway, moving on. Dn. John is outside mowing the weed patch we affectionately call a lawn, and the smell of freshly cut grass (weeds) is drifting in the open windows. Every now and then, the lawnmower makes a scary thunking/screeching noise as it sucks up a rock. I went outside earlier and watered all my flowers and vegetables. I was busy yesterday, and planted zucchini, tomatoes, potatoes, forget-me-nots, and lettuce. It was pretty fun. Hopefully, my vegetables will do okay! I've already been cooking with my rhubarb, which took off like nobody's business this year, because of our early spring.
I spent 7 hours at the bakery today. For a girl who usually only works a 4-5 hour shift, it was a long day. Megan and Marina went to Jess's house for a few hours, and then spent some time with me. It's very little fun icing cakes with a 21 pound infant strapped to your back, especially while she pulls your hair. But, we made it through. Megan was the little darling of the bakery. She was in a good mood, and was super sweet, so everybody kept giving her treats. Plus, when I wasn't looking, she snuck spoonfulls of frosting and maraschino cherries.
I think Marina might be working on her first tooth. I spotted something white on her gums this morning, but every time I try to look again she sticks her tongue out, so I can't see. She's been pretty drooly and spitty today, and also keeps chewing on her fingers. She's definately due for some pearly whites, so we'll see what happens. I also wish she would sleep better, by the way. She slept for 11 hours straight two nights ago, and ever since then has been punishing me for hoping that she would make it a regular habit. Of course, if she is teething, maybe it has something to do with it. Who knows?
Oh, and just as a side note, I hate mosquitoes.

Did you plant Megan's carrots too.
Matthew want's to know why your planting Bikinis?!?!?!? hahahaha
Be careful, that fresh cut grass smell is consistent with fozgene gas -- Wouldn't want that drifting through your window.
On a slightly less weird firefighter note, I had a good time with the girls. I'm still finding macaroni noodles around the house from Megan's lunch.
